I was getting dressed the other morning and my boyfriend mentioned how excited he was for his cousin and his girlfriend to come in town. Ughh! How could I forget? I guess I had gotten so caught up with our trip to LA that I completely forgot about them. I was raised in a very strict traditional home, so that means, when people come to stay with you, you roll out the red carpet. Fresh sheets, fresh towels, chargers, fridge stocked, and everything clean. I know some things on the list are not always practical, but the bottom line is, I want everyone to feel welcomed. Since we just moved, I knew the guest room was mainly acting as a storage and an extension of the laundry room. We haven’t really had the time to fix it up the way that it should be. So I gave myself a challenge! On the way home from meeting with a client, I saw a Five Below and wanted to see what I could do! I gave myself a $70 budget to get all the items.
The first thing I saw when I went into Five Below was their “Room 2 Room” Section. It had throw blankets, floor rugs, pictures, side tables, pillows, pretty much all the key ingredients to creating a dope room. So I saw the vision through. I got the end table and added my “The Astrology of You and Me” book that I got from Urban Outfitters a while ago. It’s a pretty pale pink text that’s appealing to the eye, plus it’s an interesting read. Stacked on top, I have a fresh Eucalyptus leaf and the Himalayan Sea Salt Lamp that I also purchased from Five Below. I keep fresh Eucalyptus on my shower head so I just grabbed some from in there.
I found the cutest wall décor on the next aisle. They had pictures with cute sayings, and they even had hanging shelves! I was so impressed by how easy the install would be (I’m used to putting Every. Single. Piece. together). So I added three of those to the cart.
At this point, I have only accumulated about $25 for all the things in my cart. It’s worth mentioning that luckily, all of my items that were under $5 still looked really decent!
The photo selection was extremely limited and I found all the quotes to be corny or too cliché. But, I did what I could do and chose the most neutral ones.
After rummaging through the wall décor, I spotted the blankets and the pillows. I decided I wanted to go with unisex colors being that it was for guest, but I still wanted to keep things bright. I finally finished my shopping and my total came to $68! I think I found a new store to fuel my hobby! Interior designing and arts & crafts have always brought me joy.
Tell me what you think of the final product! If you do any renovations please send me pics! I love stuff like that. Until next time, Doc Jo. Xoxo.
